Assistance we need from organizations and individuals:
We initially tried to market our lamps below cost, but we faced three difficulties:
- i. Price difference: Our lamp costs Rupees 50 (US cents 45) each. Although ‘inexpensive’, it costs much more than the makeshift ones that cost US cents 12-15.
ii. Lack of awareness: Most people are unaware that they could maim and kill.
iii. Lack of vehicles and sales outlets: So it is not easy to reach the people in far away places.
Therefore we have to give them free. Organizations like Youth and Women’s Associations in villages and staff of local government offices are keen to distribute our lamps in their areas, if we give our lamps free. For that we need donations and other support from state institutions, commercial establishments, NGOs and individuals in the following ways.
- 1. From organizations:
» Giving a donation: We could then make lamps and distribute them free to the needy
» Purchasing a stock of our lamps and distributing in any area if there are facilities to do so.
2. From individuals:
» Any donation, big or small, is most welcome.
As we can give two lamps to one family with Rupees 100 or US cents 90
» With US$ 5.30 ( Rs 600/=) , we could help 06 families
» With US$ 10.60 ( Rs 1,200/=) , we could help 12 families
» With US$ 53 ( Rs 6,000/=) , we could help 60 families

It was a great source of encouragement, coming from a colossus to a novice, who had just taken the first few steps of a giant journey, having a vision. May he rest in peace.

Living in Dubai for the past 20 years, the ‘Friday’ Magazine has become habit. Nothing moved me so much the way your article did. The video shook me so badly I just had my hands over my face. I promise to make a monthly donation of Rs 1000/- until you tell me that’s enough.
